The Winter/Holiday Issue
It's been a long time since The Provocateur has ran an issue. However, we are back and excited to feel a fashion void that has lingered in our hearts. The spring and fall collections have left a bad taste in my mouth. The simple truth is the main stream designers are just not that creative. After going to a season of shows, I've come to realize that there is nothing really new on the runway. The only thing new about the garments is the so-called "re-Think". Well I think it's time for designers to re-think this idea.
Nostalgia is a wonderful and beautiful thing, especially when you're remembering BIG moments in time. However, if you stay in the past too long you might get lost. This is what has happen to my generation of designer's. Designers for the last 7 seasons have recreated and re-think the 20's, 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's... leaving little room for a signature look of the 21st century. In my opinion the 21st century is the most exciting and unique time to be alive. Humanity is awaking from the dark age of religious dogma, and technology has made life live able for even the weakest of human's. So why it is that designer's don't seem to put more effort into pushing street fashion to new levels? People need to get out of their heads and realize that fashion is a necessity and not just a luxury. The way you dress is the way you will be remembered. The way you will be remembered is the way other humans can learn how to evolve past the point to where we are now. We want to get out of the dark ages of fashion, and we want to do it right now. So I'm calling every designer to become present and began to make fashion that is relevant to the present.
This issue will be all about present features and fashion that inspire us. I will take you outside of the box of just pretty clothing and into the world of extraordinary clothing.
